Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA): His Life and Spiritual Path (Part 2)
From an early age, he showed a great interest in acquiring knowledge and developing spiritually. In order to gain advanced Islamic knowledge, he travelled to Baghdad, which was one of the major centres of learning at that time.
Acquisition of Knowledge and Spiritual Practices
After arriving in Baghdad, he studied various branches of Islamic knowledge, including the Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh, Tafsir, and the Arabic language, under prominent scholars. He particularly excelled in Hanbali Fiqh.
Along with the pursuit of knowledge, he also gave great importance to spiritual training. He devoted himself to spiritual practices such as Mujahadah (striving against the desires of the self), Riyadah (spiritual discipline), Ibadah (worship), and Dhikr (remembrance of Allah). The period he spent in seclusion and spiritual self-discipline further deepened his spiritual life.
To be continued, In Sha Allah...
Allah knows best.
