Among the Sheikhs and Mashaikhs of Shadhuli Tariqa, one of the prominent sufi scholar was Sheikh Muhammad Fassi (QS). His eldest son was Sheikh Muhammad Ibrahim Fassi (QS). Sheikh Shadhuli Syed Abdul Qadir Maulana Makki (QS) came to Kerala from the holy city of Makka in 1922 as caliph or successor of Sheikh Muhammad Ibrahim Fassi (QS). Sheikh came and lived in a place called Mahi. Henceforth Sheikh is also known as Mahi Sheikh. Among his mureeds or disciples there were plenty of scholars, Sufis and saadaats. Muhammad Haji (Vadakara) Sheikh Hassan Hasrath (QS), Pathi Abdul Qadir Muslyar (QS) are few of the mureeds who are known very well till date. This pious Sheikh has been instrumental in preaching and establishing Shadhili Awrads and Hadhras in various parts of Kerala. Sheikh lead and taught numerous people of spiritual dimension of Islam. Syed Koyamma Thangal, Syed Habeeb Thangal, Tajuddin Abdul Rahman Muslyar, Klapana Ustad were his appointed successors. On the night of 8th in the month of Safar in 1390 Sheikh passed away. Sheikh’s mausoleum is located in Mahi ( village called Poozhithala).
